An illustration of the TRAPPIST-1 planetary system compared to the Inner Solar System, where there are seven Earth-sized exoplanets orbiting the star TRAPPIST-1, which is a colder, smaller and dimmer star than our Sun. These planets are all orbiting closer to their star than Mercury orbits the Sun. Modelling studies indicate that the planets d, e and f could be habitable, but many think planet e is likely to be the most habitable candidate.
