Marvellous Moon – RSPB St.Aidan’s

September 19 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Matt Gough - Drag Excavator
Ever looked up at a moonlit sky and wished you could see it in all its marvellous detail?
Well, now is your chance to learn more about our nearest celestial neighbour; the Moon.
Join us at RSPB St Aidan’s for an evening discovering all things Lunar. Led by the Wakefield and District Astronomical Society, this interactive session will give you the opportunity to learn about the evolution of the Moon, its relationship with Earth, selenography (lunar geography) and what areas have been landed on.
There will be a range of telescopes and other optical equipment available so you can see first-hand detailed views of the Moon as well as other unique astronomical features visible in the night sky such as planets, constellations and galaxies.
There will be plenty of opportunity to get your questions answered and, weather permitting, live demonstrations of lunar photography in action!

Know before you go:
Please bring suitable warm clothing.
Although we cannot guarantee a clear sky, we’ve done our best to achieve a high-quality experience – even if we can’t go outside! In the case of cloud or bad weather, we will have an indoor presentation on all aspects of the Moon, a virtual tour around its surface, a virtual night sky tour, plus a choice of astronomical activities/crafting/quiz, and plenty of time for Q&A whilst we keep an eye out for gaps in the cloud cover.
