£14EVENT CANCELLED AS SITE IS FLOODED.
Have your children ever looked up at the night sky and asked all those tricky questions you don’t know the answer to?
If they’ve expressed a natural curiosity or interest in all things astronomical, now is your chance to give them the opportunity to gain knowledge about our solar system and beyond.
Join us at RSPB Fairburn Ings for an evening introduction to the basics of astronomy. Led by the Wakefield and District Astronomical Society, this session will give children the chance to learn about binoculars, telescopes, navigating the night sky, our solar system, details of planets and their moons, stars and constellations.
Content will be delivered by a series of small interactive presentations, interspersed with fun activities/challenges/crafting – all materials are provided.
There will be a range of telescopes and other optical equipment available so everyone can see first-hand views of any visible objects including the Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus as well as other unique astronomical features in the night sky such as constellations and galaxies.
There will be plenty of opportunity to get those questions answered and, weather permitting, live demonstrations of lunar/planetary photography in action!
