Our Society was started by a few amateur astronomers from the district who got together via the Stargazers Lounge forum and arranged some local star gazing sessions. Over 6 months numbers swelled, bringing a vast and varied range of personalities, equipment and knowledge of the night sky alongside. The society has continued to go from strength to strength.

We host a number of guest speaker meetings throughout the year during the stargazing season, as well as several public outreach sessions covering both solar and stellar observing.

The society is a member of the Federation of Astronomical Societies, and is governed by a constitution-bound committee with an AGM held annually at which society members may vote on decisions for the forthcoming year.

Members’ Forum (4/13/2018) - The chaps over at StargazersLounge.com (SGL) have generously provided a dedicated forum for us over on their site. You can find links to the forum and individual threads on the right. As SGL is an external site, you’ll need an account with them - new users can sign up for free at https://stargazerslounge.com/register Our Committee-Only internal forum remains however. If you’re eligible for access, the link should appear at the top right of this page under the "Member Tools" menu. As this is an internal forum, no further credentials are required.
Welcome to the members only area! (12/2/2017) - Hello society members...! This is where we plan to (gradually, as we think of them) unveil the online perks of membership. For now, this basically entails being able to submit an image to the public photo gallery (to do so, use the "Upload Image to Gallery" link up above). For the Gallery, images should be no larger than 4mb. In the meantime the link to "View The Gallery" is up above too. Have at it!
