About Us

Wakefield and District Astronomical Society

Welcome to the Wakefield and District Astronomical Society Website

Our Society was started by a few people who got together on the Star Gazers Lounge forum wanting to get together for a few local star gazing meets, after about 6 month's there were a few of us now meeting up locally who all had a different range of scopes and knowledge of the night sky. Since then, the society has continued to go from strength to strength.

Keep an eye on our SGL events thread for the latest updates on our events.

Our next society meeting is on Thursday September the 21st at 7:30pm

No more meetings now till September as we have our summer break. We kick off our new year with the excellent Paul Money. Please note the new location of our meetings going forward which will now be held at the Old Mill Pub, Horbury, Bennett Avenue, WF4 5HJ so just down the road from the school. Here is a link to a map of our new meeting point.
